At the Derbyshire County Cricket League AGM on January 21st, I am delighted to announce that Neil Doxey was given The Cyril Mullinger Award for lifetime achievement in recognition of outstanding quality and service to cricket in Derbyshire and his dedication to Wirksworth & Middleton CC. Neil began playing in 1975 and has always played for Wirksworth & Middleton CC. Following on from youth cricket, Neil was firstly a young wicket keeper in the 2nd team - nowadays seen as a bowler with his Docker's Dobbers he is really an all rounder, still taking amazing catches in 2025 and batting out for a win. We think he has played well over 1000 times for WMCC - nobody has played more. He has held many responsibilities including Chair of the Club, Chair of Cricket, Secretary, Treasurer, Chair of Grounds and much more – Neil is fundamental to the success of WMCC and we owe him huge thanks of gratitude for 50 years of loyal support and dedication. It was good to see his contribution to cricket in Derbyshire acknowledged by the League.

Neil and I also collected the pennant to commemorate the 1st X1 CHAMPIONS OF THE DCCL DIVISION 3N 2025. It will be displayed in the clubhouse.
