Wirksworth & Middleton CC presented with two prestigious awards.

At the Derbyshire County Cricket League Annual General Meeting on January 24th, Wirksworth & Middleton CC were presented with two prestigious awards.

The Arnie Gaskin Award is given for Improvements to Grounds and Facilities - Martin Kinder accepted the plaque on behalf of the club. Huge thanks go to all those members and players who have made this award possible over recent years - especially Neil Doxey, Lee Spendlove, Stephen Lowe, Martin Kinder, David Hopkinson, Neil Smedley, Andrew Redfern and Paul Tunnicliffe. And to those who have helped with the mowing, strimming, tree maintenance and general maintenance at both grounds at Wirksworth & Middleton. Grounds to be proud of and to play on.

The renovation of the Pavilion at Wirksworth in 2009, and the more recent improvements such as the toilets and the balcony, have also enabled us to provide some of the best facilities in Derbyshire - thank you to everyone involved in these huge projects and in particular to our President, Richard Needham.

It is good to see all this hard work and effort acknowledged by The League.

The Cyril Mullinger Award for lifetime achievement and services to cricket was given to Chair of the Club, Sue Marshall by Mark Hallows, President of DCCL, who made a lovely speech.
